The One With The Chimerism
Last night's episode is the finalé for 4th season of Jerry Bruckheimer's greatest (for us) TV series.. One victim, one prime suspect, several minor suspects, all CSI members involved, one CSI leader solved.. The twists and turns were marvellous.. Victim was raped but escape death.. She managed to ID her attacker.. however DNA results denied the involvement for the prime suspect.. CSI then turned to prime suspect's close relative.. In the end, it was actually the case of Chimerism. Chimera/Chimaera, in Greek mythology had a head of a lion, body of a goat and tail of a dragon..
Read : In humans, though it is considered extremely rare, it may be more common than believed..
Heh.. no wonder.. during the Noritta's case, we were puzzled why DNA samples from Haniff had to be taken not only from his swabs, blood samples, semens, also 'bulu' this and 'bulu' that when Grissom & co. normally take DNA sample just from a swab. Even in one of the court session, one of the lab expert was asked, "How long??"
I guessed CSI:KL already figured the possibility of a Chimerism before taking the samples from Haniff.. hehe.. (Read : Yeah rite!!).. either too clever or too ermmm.. I dont wanna say..
ps: After sent a plant in last week episode, Grissom (had to?? dont think so..) held Sara's hand to comfort her.. can't wait for season 5..

"This has occurred in humans, though it is considered extremely rare, but since it can only be detected through DNA testing, which in itself is rare, it may be more common than currently believed. As of 2003, there were about 30 human cases in the literature, according to New Scientist"Read : Chimerism is not that rare in other animals according to Colorado State University's Biomedical Hypertextbook.
