The One With The Road Closure

Read this in Utusan Malaysia. Traffic is already heavy every morning, evening and during weekends, but this may turn it worst...

Quoted :

Jalan susur persimpangan bertingkat LDP ditutup

The One With The Toothing and The BlueJacking?

A friend of mine 'yahooed' me on my opinion on 'toothing' / 'bluejacking'.. WTF?? He asked me to google for it.. to my surprise seeing the results..

Quoted one of it :

Toothing - a form of anonymous sex with strangers - usually on some form of transport or enclosed area such as a conference or training seminar. 'Toothers meet by first connecting suitable equipment - such as a modern phone or palmtop computer. Users 'discover' other computers or phones in the vicinity and then send a speculative message. The usual greeting is: 'Toothing?'.

The One With The English Barclaycard Premiership Champion

It was a weekend with battles of derbies between clubs especially from English Premiership and Spanish La Liga last weekend. On Saturday, Manchester United entertained Liverpool where a spot kick converted by Murphy separated both teams.

On the next day, a London derby between Tottenham Hotspurs and Arsenal. The Gunners was up-high when their closest rival Chelsea beaten 2-1 by Newcastle at St James' Park although the visitors who took the lead with an early goal by Joe Cole. Amoebi grabbed the equalizer while Shearer's unstoppable right-foot drive took all the points. His 173rd goals for the club, 28th this season.

Knowing just a draw could secure them their 13th top-league title, the Gunners started first half commandingly with a goal from a counter attack played by Henry, fed by Bergkamp and finished by skipper Vieira. The scorer then turned to be the feeder, Pires scored and things seemed to be all wrong for Spurs.

In the second half, Spurs' caretaker David Pleat made a major change by introducing another striker, Defoe. And since then, Spurs put Gunners in defending mode. Spurs pulled a goal back with a thunderous volley by captain Redknapp, who made a promise to deny their arch-rivals Arsenal from lifting their title at White Hart Lane. However they just managed to get a draw after a late spot kick was given by referee on a foul by Lehmann against Keane. The striker simply converted the kick himself. The game finished at 2-2.

The Premiership title then goes North London. Sweeter news to Arsenal top marksman Henry who later crowned the PFA Player of the Year Award.

Late night game between Spanish top teams Real Madrid and Barcelona at Santiago Bernebeu ended at 1-2. Xavi scored late for Barca to secure a victory over 10-man Real. Former Barca hero Figo was dismissed after his foul over Puyol.

The One With The Breastfeed

Did you listen to MIX.fm today? You should my dear.. Topic of the day was 'Do you support public breastfeeding?" brought by the pregnant Shaz. She was having a casual lunch when her friend suddently popped her breast out to feed her little infant.. Shaz felt a bit awkward when all eyes in the restaurant kept staring to her friend's miraculous thingy.. hehe..

Then a caller gave her opinion.. one shouldn't breastfeed their infant in public.. her reason was simple.. MEN are perverts.. she also suggested that breastfeeding should be done in a private place such as ladies room..

Hmmm.. so easy to make a conclusion isn't it.. is it true? are men really perverts? will they turn-on with by just looking? I dont think so..

I don't think I wanna make ladies room as a place for my child having his/her meal.. It is not proper, is it? but will you flash it out when people is around?

hmm.. i yet to decide.. any thoughts?

The One With The 'Batang Ria'?

I overheard a conversation between a group of people from another department in my office.. They are the one who prepare for tender with another company and currently they are preparing for a presentation to a goverment agency.. this govt agency set a condition which sounds something like this, "In order to bid for their tender, one must prepare their document, presentation etc in Bahasa Malaysia.. it is ok to speak in broken language.. but cannot in fully English.."

So, it was their biggest task to translate IT terms to BM such as 'Antivirus', 'Computer bug', 'Worms' etc.....

I was wondering

IF :

HARDWARE = BARANGKERAS;
SOFTWARE = BARANGLEMBUT;
JOYSTICK = BATANGRIA;
PLUG AND PLAY = CUCUK DAN MAIN;
PORT = LUBANG;
SERVER = PELAYAN;
CLIENT = PELANGGAN;

THEN :

"That server gives a plug and play service to the clients using either hardware or software joystick. The joystick goes into the port of the client."

=

"PELAYAN itu beri kepada PELANGGANnya layanan CUCUK dan MAIN dengan mempergunakan BATANGRIA jenis BARANGKERAS atau BARANGLEMBUT. BARANGRIA itu dimasukkan ke dalam LUBANG PELANGGAN."

ELSE... ???

p/s : These are just some basic terms, wait until u come across to Bluetooth(Gigi Biru), Handspring(Spring Tangan), Thumb Drive(Pemacu Ibu Jari), Screen Saver(Penyelamat Skrin?), FireWire(Dawai Api?), USB(Bas Bersiri Universal) etc..

The One With The Confessions Of A Father To-Be

Well, it was last Wednesday morning when we did 'our' self-pregnancy test and it was positive!! Yeys.. It was the happiest moment of my life and the excitement still continues.. However deep inside I feel some nervousness in our days to come.. Big responsibilities for us.. Could we manage to handle it in such young age??

So we began our 'official' journey on Saturday, where we paid a visit to our gynea.. Dr Siva of DSH.. Quoted below our (+) conversation with him (=)...

(=) So what can I do for you two?
(+) She's missing her period and we did the test.. it was positive..
(=) Hmm.. pregnant.. so how long u guys have been married??
(+) Around 7 months..
(=) When was ur last period, first day?
(+) Answered... (I'm not gonna tell that.. )
(=) So your due date will be around 11/12/2004, plus a week if ur period is irregular
..

In a split second, he predicted our date of due.. heh.. then he started to explain on how the pregnancy begins, process, development, etc.. (refreshed back my memories in Biology subject.. hehe..) basically it was not a new information but the way he explained it really convinced us..

then the next big step - the ultrasound scan.. there we saw for first time in person our unborn child.. although it is just a tiny dot.. but it is really huge for us.. Dr Siva said.. in another 3 weeks we would see a mass development on the fetus.. we just couldnt wait.. dont you think so, my dear??

The One With The Old Heads

Newcastle United continue their journey to win a major trophy by passed through PSV, winning 3-2 on aggregate. The Magpies won a return leg 2-1 at SJP after tied 1-1 last week. Away goal from young Jermaine Jenas last week was really valuable. But last night goals worth even more. Securing a spot in semifinal. It was 35 years back since Newcastle got into the semifinal round of UEFA Cup. 1969 was also the year when Magpies won their last major trophy, then known as Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Two headed goals from the old lads, Shearer, 34 and Speed, 35. Fine assists by corner taker Laurent Robert.

I support Shearer from his days with Blackburn Rovers. A £15m transfer to Newcastle making me changed my favourite team. Doesnt matter if they dont have the best team. But one thing for sure they have the best all time premier league scorer. And now same old Shearer still couldn't stop scoring. Super Al plans to retire after next season ends. Newcastle should start to look out for replacement. Bellamy can't go alone. It is very well-known that Newcastle always have their 'Great Number 9'. Who will it be? Let the quest for glory continues..

The One With The Freebies

Quoted from The Star Online today:

NS trainees rewarded with freebies and discounts

BY IZATUN SHARI
SHAH ALAM: All the 85,000 national service trainees will get a loyalty programme card entitling them to a lifetime of free and discounted products and services.

A total of 26,000 of them received their Yes2NS card at its launch by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Stadium UiTM here yesterday

..

Najib said the card, which carries the trainee’s name and photograph, was also intended to be a “badge of honour” in recognition of their service to the country.

The benefits and privileges available, which will be changed annually, include:
  • FREE admittance to the fifth Rock The World Concert on Dec 18;

  • FREE music portal Musiccanteen membership to download 12 songs;

  • 10% discount for fashion apparel items at Wh outlets at the One Utama and Maju Junction shopping centres;

  • RM25 voucher for the purchase of any item at Sen Heng outlets;

  • RM5 voucher for a RM50 purchase in a single receipt from MPH bookstores;

  • WORKOUTS at PanGlobal fitness clubs in Petaling Jaya, Johor Baru and other outlets nationwide; and

  • INSURANCE coverage worth RM10,000 for death and disability caused by their involvement in extreme sports, provided by PanGlobal Insurance Bhd
Najib advised trainees to make full use of the training to gain knowledge, adding that the Government would spend RM500mil annually on training.

He said the Government regarded it as an investment for future generations.

“It is all right to spend a lot of money and work hard collectively with all parties so as to produce a future generation that has high spirit, is patriotic and appreciates good values.

..

.. I understand the idea of encouraging and rewarding those teenagers.. but what with the free gig ?? Is that what they meant by high spirit slash good value..

p/s: The last time I went to a gig was RTW2 (if I was not mistaken..) - Open Carpark Midvalley.. may be I'm too old for this thingy now.. + Butterfingers is no longer around..

The One With The Lucky Break

I heard over Mix.fm, Shazmin said something about J.Lo's mother (Jennifer not Jason) won £1.2m over the jackpot at Atlantic City.. 1.2m pound sterling.. almost RM10m.. how lucky.. so topic for the day.. 'Your Lucky Break'..

I always spend my freetime watching TV Gameshow.. since my childhood age : Double Dare, Fun House, Win, Lose or Draw, (there was one British charade game during the 80s I couldnt remember the name..), 90s Price Is Right, More Jutaria, Pyramid Game, Wheel of Fortune/Roda Impian and of course game of the new century 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire'..

All these TV Show offer big money to be won.. some require brain and some require brawn..

I laughed like hell when people answered 'ROTI KOBOI' to a Roda Impian puzzle '*O*I KOBOI' (clue : BENDA).. how stupid can they be?? or if somebody call his uncle to ask on a silly Standard 6 question in his road to be a milionaire.. I can answer all that.. on average.. I think I could win at least 32k from every WWTBAM game without losing any lifeline.. haha.. and again it was only my pep talk.. I wonder what will happen if I'm the one who rolling the wheel.. or sitting in front of Jalaludin Hassan.. hehe.. I'm sure I'll be sweating all over..

Is it really about brain and brawn.. or u also need some luck?

Actually I dont really believe in luck.. It wasn't luck for Ahmad Samerin to win RM1m in More Jutaria or Kelly Clarkson to be the American Idol.. It was their effort + their rezeki.. our day will come.. insyaallah..

The One Where Polly Came Along (18SX)

I don't think I wanna review this movie.. Reasons :

1. Ridiculous acts by the censorship board although it has been rated with 18SX..
2. a '50 First Dates' a day back.. there's no Ula in Along Came Polly
3. Ben + Jennifer = Bennifer = no chemistry

Dreadful 3.5 out 10

The best part.. twin-seater of GSC..

The One With 2nd of April

Oh.. I just remembered.. It would be my late father's 61st birthday today if he still alive.. Al-Fatihah to Almarhum Dol Bakri bin Nasom.. I miss him so much..

The One With The 50 First Dates (U)

'50 First Dates' rejoins Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore after 1998 hillarious 'The Wedding Singer'.. Henry (Sandler) is a zookeeper and eligible bachelor in Hawaii who afraid of commitment.. he suddenly falls for Lucy (Barrymore) who happen to be a 'special' girl.. she suffered suffered a short-term memory loss disorder or Goldfield's syndrome which unable to convert her memories to long term.. Lucy wakes up every morning thinking that it’s Sunday October 12th.. a day before she involved in a bad accident.. In spite of her inability to remember him, Henry falls madly in love with Lucy, and he spends every day winning her heart..

As any other Sandler's film, comedian Rob Schneider (Animal, Hot Chicks) will make his cameo.. In 50 First Dates, Rob featured as Ula, Henry's 'crazy' native Hawaiian with 5 kids who supplies the 'dumb' comedy (esp the part where he got beaten the hell up by a baseball bat.. hehe).. Sean Astin (LOTR, Samwise Gamgee) also featured in this movie as Lucy's brother..

50 First Dates will be a nice romantic comedy to watch esp with dates.. absolute hillarious.. burst all your laugh out.. the best comedy so far this year (I haven't watch Along Came Polly though).. 7 out of 10..

The One With The Confusion Before The Movie

What would you do if one fine day.. somebody says 'Hi!' to you but you dont have any idea who he/she is...

That happened to me last night.. I was about to buy '50 First Dates' (review to come) movie tickets.. then the counter ticket girl said 'Hi!' to me.. knowing that I dont have too many girl friends.. I thought she must be one of Ichah's friend.. but the way she looked at me made me re-think again.. who is she!! aghhhh.. I got so blur, tried to peek her nametag.. looked for her name in the computer screen but to no avail.. it went for couple of secs until she said "tak kenal? tak kenal tak apa lah.." oh no.. u got me.. the situation was getting worse and worse.. luckily Ichah was there.. covered for me.. "lama ke kerje sinih.." phewww... I should've said that.. rather than make a silly face.. haha.. I got my tix and asked "ticket free tader ker?" isk.. shame on me.. she gave me ZA goodies instead..

so we walked out from there and looking for dinner.. I asked Ichah.. "Who is she? ur friend?".. "Hey.. it was *****"

hahahaa.... ohmygod.. silly me.. to Mr Ayul.. sorry.. I forgot ur Miss..

The One With The Ant and The Grasshopper

The Original Version..

The ant busts his @$$ in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

The Updated Version

Once upon a time,there lived an ant and a grasshopper. The grasshopper does nothing else but jump around and play. On the other hand, the ant is so hardworking, looking for food all day long and store them in it's nest.

Looking at his hardworking friend working so hard, the grasshopper ask,

"Hey, Ant! U dun have to relax ah? Always busy one. Come and play with me lah."

To which the ant replied, "I can't lah i have to store all these food."

"Haiyah! Relaxlah. Why u bother storing all these food? When u hungry then go find lah." the grasshopper told the ant again.

"Eh,cannot lah. I have to standby for the coming winter season.Then I no need to panick mah. I think u also must standby u know." the ant telling his friend.

"Where got time...I go play better. U wanna store food u go ahead lah. I continue playing ok.. bye!" And hop goes the grasshopper.

The Ant is a hardworking guy... oops i mean insect. Not like the grasshopper who is so lazy. And so as days, weeks, months go by,the winter still has not come yet but the ant is still seen searching and storing food.

The two friends happen to meet again. "Hey Ant! U stil haven't finished storing food ah? last time all the food all go where? So fast finish ah?" asked grasshopper.

"I got keep but all overdue liao. So cannot eat anymore. All because winter not here yet. Now i have to go and look for new food." sighed the ant.

"But ant ah.. U dun mind i ask ah.. Did u ever have a thought that MALAYSIA where got winter?" ask the grasshopper again.

"AHHHH????!!!!!" the ant was shocked!

THE END.

MORAL : Work SMART not just hard..

The One With The Fish

I received an interesting email from my superior just now and would like to share with everybody...

Quoted as below:

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went further than ever. The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish.

If the return trip took more than a few days, the fish would not be fresh. The Japanese did not like the taste. To solve this problem, fishing companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer.

However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen and they did not like frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower price. So fishing companies installed fish tanks.

They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks. After a little thrashing around, the fish stopped moving. They were tired and dull, but alive.

Unfortunately, the Japanese could still taste the difference. Because the fish did not move for days, they lost their fresh-fish taste. The Japanese preferred the lively taste of fresh fish, not sluggish fish.

So how did Japanese fishing companies solve this problem? How do they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan? If you were consulting the fish industry, what would you recommend?

Imagine ourselves, as the fishermen..

As soon as you reach your goals, such as finding a wonderful mate, good working conditions, paying off your debts or whatever, you might lose your passion. You don't need to work so hard so you relax. You experience the same problem as lottery winners who waste their money, wealthy heirs who never grow up and bored homemakers who get addicted to prescription drugs.

Like the Japanese fish problem, the best solution is simple.

"Man thrives, oddly enough, only in the presence of a challenging environment."
- L. Ron Hubbard, The Benefits of a Challenge:

The more intelligent, persistent and competent you are, the more you enjoy a good problem. If your challenges are of the correct size, and if you are steadily conquering those challenges, you are happy. You think of your challenges and get energized. You are excited to try new solutions. You have fun! You are alive!

Now, back to how Japanese Fish Stay Fresh:

To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks. But now they add a small shark to each tank. The shark eats a few fish, but most of the fish arrive in a very lively state.

The fish are challenged.

Recommendations:

Instead of avoiding challenges, jump into them. Beat the heck out of them. Enjoy the game. If your challenges are too large or too numerous, do not give up. Failing makes you tired. Instead, reorganize. Find more determination, more knowledge, more help. If you have met your goals, set some bigger goals. Once you meet your personal or family needs, move onto goals for your group, the society, even mankind. Don't create success and lie in it. You have resources, skills and abilities to make a difference."

So, put a shark in your tank and see how far you can really go!

The One With The April Fool's Day

Quoted from an email from a friend :

Petikan drpd Risalah Fikrah.

Peliharalah Allah, nescaya Allah akan memelihara kamu ......riwayat Tarmizi..

A good lesson for us as a muslim.. furthermore.. I would like to add.. once in the 90s.. a malay rock group called Search was so famous with their song "Isabella".. It was Isabella I of Spain who threw down the Muslim government of Granada.. If it wasnt because of her, city of Granada, Cordoba and Andalucia would still be Muslim's famous cities..

At last, MIC will get a new leader.. after 9 terms, Samy Vellu decides the time has come..

The One With The Touch n Go Card

I'm a regular user of NKVE now and Touch n Go card helps me to beat the queues.. I always maintain my card balance around RM5-RM60 max.. sometimes i could see people with RM150++ but today it came to shock me to see a driver touched his card with a balance of RM521.20.. 500?? what if the card lost..

I lost my card last month with some RM20++ in balance.. I went to the office but they said they cannot do anything.. I'd to buy another card.. i wondered.. before buying a card.. u have to complete a form with your details.. name.. ic.. address.. bla bla bla.. plus another RM15 deposit.. if they cannot retrieve our info from their database then why they need the details..

I would like to suggest TnG to make a system that can track down the card based on user.. one user can have more than one card.. say card #1, card #2 and so on.. say if user 1 reported that he lost his card #1.. TnG must be able to block any other transaction from card #1 and give back the balance to user 1 provided he buy another card.. but he'll lose his deposit..

I'm sure customers will appreciate that.. ..
