The One With The Trojan War
God knows how much I love epic movies.. Naming a few ; First Knight, Braveheart, Patriot and Last Samurai.. however.. among many timeframes, I love ancient Greek and Roman the most.. 'The Gladiator' was really dissapointing to me.. with expressionless face of somehow Oscar winner leading actor, Russell Crowe, I don't really appreciate it..
Homer's Iliad re-opened.. The legendary Trojan War was adapted to the screen by by David Benioff as Troy. The tragedy begins when handsome prince of Troy, Paris(Orlando Bloom) 'abducted' Helen(Diane Kruger) away from Menelaus(Brendan Gleeson), the King of Sparta. The amity between the two kingdoms turns to combat. Menalaus seeks for helps from his brother Agamemnon(Brian Cox) of Mycenae, the arrogant king whom years lurking for a reason to conquer the great City of Troy.
However, knowing nobody could ever defeat the mighty walls that protecting Troy, Agamemnon turns to Achilles(Brad Pitt), the great Warrior yearns for his ultimate glory so that his name will be known for many many centuries.. indeed.. Achilles was simply superb.. His personal battle with Hector(Eric Bana), Prince of Troy; won the beach of Troy & Temple of Apollo; single handedly won battle for Thessalon with a single stab.. Stunning..
It was hard for the audience to accept the Mighty Achilles would ever fall under the arrows of coward and vain Paris (Bloom indeed a good archer), also unfaithful Helen managed to survive..
Still, I recommend this 2 hours and 43 minutes movie as a more than worth compared to RM12 tix price.. will definately add this to our DVD collection also..8.5 7.5 out of 10.. Enjoy!
ps: waiting for the next epic, King Arthur.
