The One With The Great No 9
Quoting from Newcastle United official website;
As I said, Newcastle United will always have their Great No. 9. And of course, with current Great No. 9 Alan Shearer hanging his boots at the end of this season, Sir Bobby desperate for a replacement. I was hoping for James Beattie, younger, already well-adapted with EPL style and a true admirer of Shearer himself. However £10m pricetag is too much for Big Boss Shepherd.
Although Kluivert signed for free, his £80k per-week wages with Barcelona would make him the highest paid player in SJP.. (unless he already considered a pay-cut).. Plus, last season with Barca, he spent most of his time sidelined due to injury.. and not play a single game in Euro 2004.. He better show he's still in his best to take on No. 9's jersey next season.
Kluivert will wear No 11 after being left vacant by the departure of Premiership all-time-most-appearance, midfielder Gary Speed.
