The One With The Public Transport
In my posting on Freeway, Modaq commented KL needs better public transportation system.. may be sumthing like London's tube.. The Star today reported a proposed masterplan called the Klang Valley Integrated Public Transport System and Land Use Development Plan has come to the final stages of study and will be ready to be submitted to cabinet for approval..
According to plan, it's gonna be a 500km rail-based transit network with 380 stations that would run from suburban areas into the city centre, compared to current network (commuter, LRT & monorail) which covers only 182km with 110 stations = 48% of KL area. The new system would also reorganise the bus system with creating regional and feeder buses. Plus, a common ticket would be introduced for all transit system..
The minus part.. the network should be fully developed by 2020.. Will we be using the same technology in 15 years time?
(Pardon me since I always imagine Fry in his Futurama tube.. :P)
